Objective: The objective was to determine what factors effect the
sustained release characteristics of diphenhydramine HCl, a very
water soluble active, from a delivery system matrix formed from
cellulose acetate CA-398-10NF (CA). Factors investigated included
CA:active ratio, presence of plasticizer, CA molecular weight CA
particle size distribution, and other factors. Another objective was to
determine the ability to scale these formulations to a pilot scale
rotary press tablet machine.
